FNA Head Start 0-5 empowers parents as a child’s first and most influential teacher. We are a safe learning space designed to strengthen families and help each student enrich their school readiness goals. We collaborate with parents through relationship-based practices to support the emotional, physical, and cognitive development of each enrolled student. We celebrate and value each student’s heritage and honor the practices each family home uses for language, culture and the subsistence lifestyle.
We use cultural heritage education to promote pride in culture, encourage social independence, and gain personal responsibilities and leadership skills.
FNA Head Start 0-5 accepts applications from all families living in the Fairbanks North Star Borough. Successful student enrollment at FNA Head Start 0-5 introduces the student to early intervention, developmental, social and emotional skill building, active learning spaces and nutritional activities. All children receive appropriate developmental screenings and referrals.
The program welcomes and celebrates all students and their families to strengthen family-school-community connections. We enhance the importance of cultural heritage of each student through onsite, outside learning environments and field trips to Borough learning opportunities that can involve the entire family.
Focus on health, nutrition, education, and culture.
