Fairbanks, Alaska—Today it was announced that the City of Fairbanks will pay Marvin Roberts $11.5 million to settle his case against them.
Through the case, Marvin Roberts, known as one of the Fairbanks Four, fought to bring to light misconduct that led to his wrongful incarceration. Marvin, along with Eugene Vent, Kevin Pease and George Frese, spent almost two decades wrongfully incarcerated for the murder of 15-year-old John Hartman.
FNA has long supported the Fairbanks Four in their pursuit for justice. No monetary compensation will quiet the claims of deliberate misconduct, negligence, and injustice in this case.
“We are hopeful of a systemic change that is transparent and meaningful at the law enforcement and judicial levels for all,” said Melissa Charlie, Executive Director. “FNA will continue to support and pursue such a change.”
