Tonya Garnett

Tonya Garnett (Gwich’in), member, has served on the Board for 1 year. Tonya is Neets’aii Gwich’in, originally from Vashraii K’oo, Arctic Village, AK. Tonya is the daughter of Lillian and Jerry Garnett, the granddaughter of Ezias and Martha James of Arctic Village, and Edgar and Lucy Garnett, of Cleveland, Ohio. Tonya holds a Bachelor’s degree in Alaska Native Studies and a Bachelor’s degree in Sociology from the University of Alaska Fairbanks. Tonya is the special projects manager for the Native Village of Venetie Tribal Government. Tonya has worked with Tanana Chiefs Conference Self Governance and Tribal Development, cultural and wellness camps, Arctic Village Council, Doyon Foundation, and Big Brothers Big Sisters Rural Expansion Program. Term: 2021-2023.  FNA Board Committees: Planning & Development Committee, Effie Kokrine Charter School Representative, ANE Parent Advisory Committee Alternate and Behavioral Health Committee.
